Create your own cityscape with these recycled cardboard ‘Warehouse City’ light shades by new brand Backlane Designs. There’s also another collection of light shades based on building’s found in Yemen, if your tastes are more exotic.
Just a nice floor light, really.
I live near Hoxton Street, which is slowly beginning to acquire some interesting independent shops (see Monster Supplies, Willow Shoreditch). One of the latest additions is East London Furniture. A shop and workspace in one, it makes and sells products made from 100 per cent recycled materials. Such as this light – which I’m loving.
Just cool. The price includes the white porcelain socket, textile cable and ceiling cap in white plastic.
Junk Deluxe is, hands down, the best vintage store I know. It’s got great retro/vintage stock, at really good prices – a combination not oft seen these days. I’m always wishing it was based in London so I could go more often. The latest product to catch my eye? This wood and metal scissor lamp – yours for just £40.
Cage lights have been popping up a lot lately. The gold-plated ‘Work Lamp’ by Form US With Love is perfection, but at £163 also one to save up for. A more affordable alternative is this quirky cool wire cage lampshade from online store Ruby Roost. The flex is separate, but you have a choice of yellow, black & white, blue or green.
This bunny light is like a more space (and wallet) friendly alternative to Moooi’s horse lamp. It would definitely be a talking point.
